“The city must not fall”: The developers of Frostpunk 2 showed an intense gameplay trailer and confirmed its release on Game Pass
Polish publisher and developer 11 Bit Studios demonstrated the promised gameplay trailer for the city planning strategy with survival elements of Frostpunk 2 and explained the list of target platforms for the game.
In the story, 30 years after the first part, the Earth is still tormented by an endless frost, but Frostpunk 2 shifts the focus from survival to the restoration of society and the associated answers to complex political questions.
The two-minute gameplay trailer for Frostpunk 2 shows glimpses of the snowy city, the process of building new districts and voting in the council, and the consequences of wrong decisions.
The gameplay shown in Frostpunk 2 is made tense by the townspeople’s appeals to the manager (i.e. the player), which range from timid requests to loud demands and restless music.
Viewers appreciated the higher stakes and increased fatalism in Frostpunk 2, the scary spectacle and the change in the main objective: from “The city must survive” in the first part to “The city must not fall” in the sequel.
As far as the list of target platforms is concerned, Frostpunk 2 is now not only announced for PC (steam, GOG, EGS), but also PS5, Xbox Series X and S. In addition, the game will be added to the PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass catalogs on launch day.
It was previously reported that Frostpunk 2 would release on PC and consoles simultaneously, but as it turns out, that’s not the case. The PC version (also for Game Pass) will be released in the first half of 2024, the console version will follow later.
