An incredible waterfall worth visiting.
Hengifoss is one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland (118m.). The gorge in which it is located has an interesting striped structure – layers of red clay alternate with dark basalt rocks.
Hengfoss – translates as “hanging waterfall". To get to it, you need to walk about 2.5 km with an ascent of 300m up. Get ready that the round trip will take about 2.5 – 3 hours.
Parking at the waterfall is small, it is very difficult to find a free place during the day. Therefore, it is better to arrive early or late in the evening. There is a toilet.
