Meta will shift focus from digital collectibles to Facebook and Instagram

Senior Meta officials have announced that the firm will be phasing out the ability to buy and sell non-fungible tokens on both Facebook and Instagram, which have existed for less than a year since launch.

Meta Head of Commerce & FinTech Stefan Kasriel tweeted "For now, we are phasing out digital collectibles (NFTs) to focus on other ways to support creators, people and businesses."

Kasriel also mentioned that the large social media company will continue to fund the launch of "fintech tools that people and businesses will need in the future." He stated that they are speeding up payments with Meta Pay, simplifying checkout and payouts, and investing in messaging payments.
