Important Announcement: The Future of MAIN
Nearly four years ago, we launched MAIN with the dream of creating a social network where users could own and govern social communities like DAOs. It was more than just an idea; it was a bold experiment in social collaboration and empowerment.
Together, we've achieved remarkable things:
– Vibrant Communities: Over 13,000 users created and became co-owners in more than 500 communities, exploring a wide array of topics and interests.
– Active Participation: Over 150,000 authors (and 350,000 viewers) created 2.9 million posts, wrote 9.2 million comments, and shared 86.8 million reactions.
– Economic Activity: The total trading volume of community coins exceeded $750,000.
– Innovation and Recognition: With a small but dedicated team, we developed top-tier mobile apps and a website—some of the best in the web3 space—climbing to top positions in dApp rankings.
– Lasting Connections: Most importantly, we built a vibrant community and made many friends along the way.
It's been an incredible and exciting journey. MAIN became more than just another social platform; it was a place where people collaborated, ran communities, gained influence, shared successes and setbacks, and had a lot of fun along the way. We're immensely proud of what we've built together, and we believe none of it was in vain.
Why We're Reaching Out Now
Despite all these achievements, and as much as it saddens us, we have been unable to find a sustainable development model for MAIN.
Developing and maintaining the platform requires significant resources. We're competing for people's attention against industry giants, and while our vision resonated with many of you, it wasn't sufficient to capture a larger audience.
We've made significant efforts:
– We sought funding to scale our efforts.
– We worked hard to make the platform financially self-sustaining.
– We attempted to attract businesses to create communities and advertise.
Unfortunately, these efforts weren't sufficient to continue developing and maintaining the platform. Now, we've reached a point where we need to make a difficult decision to move forward.
Exploring New Possibilities
Before we take that final step, we want to do everything we can to keep MAIN alive. We believe that with the right leadership and resources, MAIN can continue to thrive.
That’s why we're opening the opportunity for new teams to take over the project. If you or someone you know has the vision, resources, and passion to lead MAIN into the future, we invite you to step forward. We will do our best to assist you along the way.
– If you have a passion to lead MAIN and want to discuss this opportunity with us, please apply using this form by November 11.
– If you know teams or individuals who might be interested, please let them know about this opportunity.
– If you want to share some ideas about MAIN’s future, ask questions, or connect with others, please join our new community b/main_dao and feel free to reach us there.
Qualifications for Potential Successors
Managing and developing MAIN is a significant responsibility that requires expertise and resources. Our goal is to transfer the project to people who can and will develop it further, ensuring that our community continues to flourish without causing any harm to our users.
That’s why we have some basic requirements for all candidates who want to apply. Please be sure that you meet these criteria before applying:
– Experience and Expertise: You have a proven track record in developing IT products.
– Understanding of the Web3 Industry: You possess a solid grasp of the web3 space and the market.
– Commitment to Community Development: You are genuinely interested in growing the community and the platform.
– Resources: You have the necessary financial means and a capable team to support development and maintenance.
What Happens Next
Until November 11, we will be accepting applications from interested teams and discussing possible ways of collaboration with them.
– If a Successor is Found: We'll present a detailed action plan and inform you about transferring the community to new leadership.
– If Multiple Candidates Emerge: We may involve all MAIN token holders in selecting the new leaders, so we can collectively determine the project's future.
– If No Successor is Found: Unfortunately, we'll have to shut down the platform. In this case, we'll inform you in advance and give you time to:
– Withdraw Your Tokens: Convert any ETH tokens to BNB tokens and withdraw your tokens from the app before the shutdown.
– Save Your Data: Copy any valuable posts or information you wish to keep.
The Future of MAIN Tokens
Regardless of the outcome, the MAIN token—as a BEP20 token on the BNB Chain—will continue to exist independently. If we do not find successors, we plan to burn all undistributed tokens, making MAIN fully decentralized and entirely in the hands of the community.
From the beginning, MAIN tokens have been distributed based on users' contributions to the community, content creation, and community development. This has resulted in one of the most broadly and fairly distributed tokens, reflecting the collective effort and engagement of our community.
We believe that the MAIN token has the potential to continue uniting friends and collaborators who have been part of this journey for almost four years. While we cannot predict the future, in the web3 world, anything is possible. Who knows how you might use the MAIN token in the future or which token could become a legend?
